WOLFFs at the Tegernsee: WOLFFKRAN supports construction of Seegut

25.09.2025 | Press Release

On the southern shore of Lake Tegernsee, one of Germany’s largest tourism projects is currently underway.

By 2028, the “Seegut am Tegernsee” will be built in Bad Wiessee on a roughly 35,000 m² site: an ensemble of 25 buildings with hotel, restaurant and cultural barn. Beneath the area lies a 20,000 m² underground level.

To realise the project, Pöttinger Bauunternehmung is relying on three cranes from the WOLFFKRAN fleet. Two WOLFF 8540.20 Cross cranes handled the heaviest lifting at the start of the project, and more recently a new WOLFF 8038.20 Clear joined them. One of the 8540.20 Cross cranes with an 80-metre jib and a hook height of 55.5 metres has already completed its tasks, been dismantled and sold to a new Wolffkran customer in Romania.

The remaining WOLFF 8540.20 Cross and WOLFF 8038.20 Clear – both with 80-metre jibs and a hook height of 33 metres – will continue working side by side on the lakeside site until 2026.

Built in ecological timber and timber-hybrid construction and using thermal water from the lake for heating and cooling, the project is regarded as a flagship for sustainable tourism in Germany. Wolffkran is pleased to contribute to its realisation with reliable lifting solutions.

“It is rewarding to see that our cranes here are not just moving materials but are part of a project that will shape the region,” says Wolfgang Kavelius, Sales Executive at Wolffkran GmbH. “We are able to offer our customer a powerful and economical solution while helping to build a piece of the future.”
