The municipal fire department of Frankfurt is expanding its facilities with a new training center situated adjacent to the current training and administration building. The construction work is scheduled to be completed by fall 2012. In order to realize this project, the mid-sized construction company FABER & SCHNEPP Hoch- und Tiefbau GmbH & Co. KG in Gießen, which received the contract for carrying out the construction work, purchased a WOLFF 6031.8 clear flat-top crane in July this year. This marked the beginning of a successful business relationship.

The company PORR Deutschland GmbH began construction of the “Alexander Parkside” hotel complex at Alexander Square in the federal capital in September 2010. This project, scheduled for completion in mid-2012, will include two hotels and a hostel. Based on the long-standing and successful collaboration that PORR Deutschland GmbH has enjoyed with WOLFFKRAN, they once again chose to deploy Germany’s premium cranes for this project.

The city of Baden is situated just 26 kilometers south of the Austrian capital in the middle of the wine growing region of the Vienna Forest. The reconstruction works for the resident clinic for rheumatic disorders have been in full swing since the end of last year. A WOLFF 6015.6 clear is ensuring problem-free construction on the site. This flat-top trolley jib crane was purchased by one of the leading construction companies, WEISSEL GmbH in Linz, especially for this construction project.

The company is currently expanding its sales network in Germany with a view to achieving increased growth in the domestic market. To drive the business forwards, WOLFFKRAN brought on board, in November 2010 and February 2011, two new sales representatives with multi-regional responsibilities. Thomas Odenbreit will be pursuing sales in Western Germany, and Wolfgang Kavelius in Southern Germany. The team is being managed by Andreas Kahl who, since taking on the role of managing director of Wolffkran Germany at the beginning of this year, has been putting in place new sales structures. Prior to joining WOLFFKRAN, Karl was the managing director of a leading construction machinery company for many years, as well as being engaged by an international crane leasing company.

Fully in line with this year’s CeBIT motto “Work and Life with the Cloud”, WOLFFKRAN, in conjunction with coresystems and proaxia, will be presenting its pilot project for delivering service processes via cloud computing. From the first of March, all service calls from the SAP system are now able to be transferred directly to the iPhone of WOLFFKRAN’s installers and electrical engineers. This transfer of data will occur by means of a cloud connector from the company proaxia. The standard application coresuite mobile from coresystems allows this information to be accessed and managed.

On 1st January 2011, the new Wolffkran Nordic AB opened in the Swedish city of Lund. Wolffkran relies on the growth market in the Nordic markets and plans to forge ahead with the sale and rental of tower cranes in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. Bengt Carlioth, the new Managing Director of Wolffkran Nordic AB, has been in charge of this plan since October 2010. Bengt Carlioth has over 15 year’s worth of experience from Volvo Construction Equipment and he knows the construction business and its opportunities in Northern Europe.

The sales partnership between Wolffkran and the Roots Group in Saudi Arabia has chronicled new successes. 44 WOLFF cranes were bought for the enlargement of the holy site of Mecca in the West of Saudi Arabia. The holy site, where several million Muslim pilgrims come to every year, requires maximum precision in the assembly and maximum output when using the cranes.

A multi-function building complex, and with it a new district in the city center, is currently being created at the Wilhelmina pier on the river Maas. The new “De Rotterdam” construction is rising up right alongside the old departure point of the historic Holland America Line, which transported thousands of emigrants to America right through to the middle of the 20th Century. Four WOLFF luffing jib cranes have been in operation since late this year to assist with the carcassing work for this so-called “vertical city”. In early 2011, the current pack of red WOLFF cranes will be supplemented by a fifth and final luffing jib crane.

In the picturesque town of Füssen, a WOLFF 6015.8clear has been employed since April this year in the construction works for the extension of an inner-city spa hotel. The captivating nature of WOLFFKRAN technology is being demonstrated once again by a pair of flat-top WOLFF 6031.8 cranes at the construction site of the Mannheim large-scale power station. With a tower height of over 120 m, the two trolley jib cranes are soaring high into the sky while being braced at only one point respectively. The contract for the work on the two stair towers in block 9 of the construction site was awarded to Züblin AG and its associated consortium. The traditionally red cranes were specially dipped in deep yellow for Züblin. The operation of the giant WOLFF cranes is being supervised on location by BMTI Baumaschinentechnik International.

Wilhelmshaven - March 2010. In mid-2008 the company GDF SUEZ began erecting a modern 800 MW coal-fired power station at the coastal location of Wilhelmshaven. Hitachi Power Europe GmbH was commissioned to supply the core components of the power station, and the steel works are being carried out by the subsidiary Donges Steeltec. The largest WOLFFKRAN luffing jib crane, the WOLFF 1250B, is being used for the construction of the boiler supporting structure. This is its premiere on a big stage. The performance of the new BIG WOLFF is being put to the test for the first time on this construction site. The red giant will be assisted by a WOLFF 355 B.
